Project CoatIn 2003 one of my best friends was offered an accolade in the SCA. She had previously been elevated to the Order of the Pelican, made a member of Royal Archers, and achieved numerous other accolades. She has often inspired me and set a benchmark of generousity, project management, and creativity. When she was invited to join the Order of the Laurel for her historical costuming skill and knowledge, I wanted to spring a gift on her. When my muse struck, however, it was more work than any one or two artists could pull off between July 1 and October 1, so I recruited heavily from her friends and from people who've benefitted from her generousity. From that sprang Project Coat, a yahoo-group that continues to join forces to achieve broad-scope projects that are inspired by wonderful people. But before the other mantles, coats, cloaks and garments, there was one Persian Coat. |
